W. H. Auden style Michael Jackson Tribute
Friday, June 26, 2009 at 10:26PM Apart from devastating millions of fans across the globe the passing of MJ first crashed the Michael Jackson fan website, then after 65,500 Tweets Twitter, then like nothing else has done before crashed Google after a 72% increase in traffic.
Off The Wall was the first album I bought ever, I aspired to moonwalk and had tickets for the O2 next year. Whatever he did or didn't do, whatever you think of him there will be a big crotch grabbing, falsetto screeching, white sock wearing hole in Pop from now on.
In an Auden style, please see our misfit tribute below:
Stop all the merchandise, cut off the ticket telephone,
Prevent Bubbles from gibbering with a juicy bone,
Silence the floor pianos and with muffled drum
Moonwalk out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let airborne hacks circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on Sky 24 the message He Is Dead,
Put sequined bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear a black cotton glove.
He was bad, dangerous, thriller and invincible,
A smooth criminal as a matter of principle,
My sunshine, my moonlight, my goodtime, my song;
I thought that motown would last for ever: I was wrong.
